Asked to comment on the statements made by Alberto João Jardim on radio station Antena 1, about the Municipality of Funchal falling into ‘Irreversible Decay,’ and becoming a city with a permanently outstretched hand, the President of Madeira, said that he supported the ex-president on his views, and although he is worried about Pedro Calado’s (Vice-President) departure from the Regional Government, due to his candidacy for Mayor of Funchal, Miguel Albuquerque believes that Pedro Calado’s leadership will benefit the city enormously.
While talking to reporters, he said, that “Doctor Pedro Calado plays a very important role within the Regional Government. He is my second-in-command, but I think we have to consider what is at stake, and it is essential for Funchal to have a strong leader, who can create and sustain a clear development project that will benefit the capital, and reverse the decline and decay lodged in the heart of Madeira.”
