The Regional Secretary of Health confirmed today that 5,000 doses of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine had arrived in the region, and that starting as of tomorrow, the 2nd of June, 1,500 bedridden individuals would be inoculated.
While visiting the Madeira Development Centre, Pedro Ramos, said that the plan is to ensure that all young people are vaccinated before the beginning of the next school year. Furthermore, the aim to vaccinate pregnant women after a certain period of pregnancy was progressing steadily.
When asked about the clusters of people waiting to be vaccinated outside the vaccination centres, he said that he had no fears that the system wasn’t working, as the problem was that people were now turning up early for their vaccinations and overloading the system. But he said, changing the subject swiftly, we are vaccinating teachers and other high risk groups using the Astrazeneca vaccine.
