The search continues for a 52-year-old man who was reported missing yesterday evening at 22:30. The man, failed to return home after saying he was going to the beach near Atalaia, Caniço to search for limpets.
Information provided by Commander Guerreiro Cardoso, from the Maritime Zone of Madeira, states that searches have continued throughout the day, stretching from the south coast of Santa Cruz to Caniço. In addition to land searches, by the Maritime and Public Security Police, two speedboats and their crews (one from the Maritime Police and the other from the Instituto de Socorro a Náufragos and the lifeboat SANAS 05) have been patrolling along the south coast. Further searches have also taken place along the Caniço promenade, Portinho beach, and in the Galo Mar and Reis Magos area.
At 16:30, and despite everyone’s best efforts, rescue teams reported that the man is still missing.
