Deputy to the Assembly of the Republic, Paulo Neves, today called for all parties to approve a new PSD/M bill, which aims to end the geographic block that hampers both Madeirans and Porto-Santenses from making online purchases. The proposed bill will be discussed at the Assembly of the Republic tomorrow.
In his speech, he said:
“Currently, there are many online shopping platforms which make it impossible for Madeirenses and Porto-Santenses to buy or receive goods, a situation that is unfair and represents unacceptable discrimination. Furthermore, this exclusion has made life doubly difficult for many families and companies in Madeira who were unable to buy goods online during the pandemic. What we need now is for the Government of the Republic to create a national law that prohibits companies from discriminating against Madeira.”
“We cannot accept that both Portuguese and European citizens can enjoy the freedom online shopping while the Madeirans and Porto-Santenses are left out.”
