The Regional Secretary for Tourism and Culture, Eduardo Jesus, says that tourism in the region is looking optimistic due to the number of air connections that are being re-established to the island. With 44 connections planned so far for the summer, Eduardo Jesus, said that the numbers not only reflected the hard work that had been done in promoting the region, but the natural desire for people to travel as soon as some of the travel restrictions are lifted.
He went on to talk about the English and German markets, which he would like to improve, and as such, he was pleased to announce that Jet2 are going to be flying from Bristol Airport.
As for the German market, Eduardo Jesus says that they are currently talking to several companies in order to create new routes that will complement existing ones.
At the moment there are twelve countries currently flying to Madeira, but he does not want to stop there, however, at he confirmed that routes to the USA, Brazil and Canada will not be resumed until their situation improves.
