The 68-year-old woman from Tendeira, Caniço who was stabbed in the stomach by her adopted son this morning, is out of danger. The woman was attacked seven times by her knife wielding son, but luckily the wounds were superficial, and the knife did not penetrate any vital organs. She was treated onsite by an EMIR team and quickly transported to hospital by the Sapadores de Santa Cruz.
As for her adopted son, he was detained by the police while he was still at the family home. He was later transported to a psychiatric hospital in Funchal where he will undergo treatment, and will remain there until the judicial police finish their investigation. He is known to suffer from a ‘psychiatric illness.’
