A man suffered serious head injuries this evening after a drunk boxing scene went wrong in the middle of Rua 31 de Janeiro, Funchal.
According to eyewitnesses, the two intoxicated men started punching and kicking each other. The fight only ended when one man ended up on the floor, while the other man took to his heels and fled the scene.
A pre-hospital team from the Madeiran Volunteer Firefighters initially tried to help the man, but when they arrived, he was already unconscious and bleeding. He was then quickly transported by ambulance to hospital.
The Police also attended the incidence.
