Fire at McDonalds

At 2.00 am Friday morning firefighters were called out to a fire at the McDonalds Restaurant on Avenida do Mar, Funchal. 

The fire was attended by the Sapadores Fire Department of Funchal, the Madeiran Voluntary Firemen and the Public Security Police (PSP) who secured the area. The fire is believed to have started in the kitchen, destroying equipment before affecting part of the restaurant, luckily firefighters arrived in time to prevent the fire from spreading. As such, the restaurant will remain closed for the next few days while the damage is assessed and necessary repairs actioned.

A source revealed to local newspaper JM that fire crews said that the black smoke coming from the building was ‘intense.’

As yet the cause of the fire is unknown.
