Meet Rob – MSC Cruises Robotic Bartender

MSC Cruises have presented details of their “immersive and futuristic” MSC Starship Club, and as such, have introduced Rob, the first humanoid robotic bartender. The MSC Starship Club is exclusive to the MSC Virtuosa, which starts sailing again from the 16th of April.

According to the company, this integrated bar and entertainment experience, inspired by MSC Cruises’ vision of the spaceship of the future – MSC Starliner One – is powered by the latest technologies developed to create a futuristic atmosphere.

This includes 3D holograms, an immersive digital art wall and a 12-seater ‘infinite’ digital interactive table, giving guests the possibility to explore their own personalised galactic tour.

Rob will mix and serve his exclusive cocktails, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, and numerous other  personalised drinks, and just like any other bartender he is capable of interacting with his guests, to ensure that everyone has a totally immersive bar experience. Furthermore, state the company, Rob’s emotional skills and responsiveness along with human bartenders, dressed as if they had just stepped out of a sci-fi movie will guarantee that the MSC Starship Club is a must for all sci-fi enthusiasts.

The MSC Starship Club took almost six years to build, and that they really pushed the limits with regards to its engineering concept.  Moreover, they collaborated with leading experts from companies specialising in robotics and automation, interior design, as well as with entertainment and digital experience solutions to create an entertainment venue, where the main star is a personalised humanoid robot.

Well Rob is certainly going where no robot has gone before!
