The Prime Minister of Portugal, António Costa, categorically stated today that anyone abusing or failing to comply with the current Covid-19 vaccination rules will be punished, and has asked all citizens to “trust” health technicians and authorities.
Defending his stance at the end of a visit to the Alvalade and Parque Lisbon health centres, where he was confronted by journalists who claimed that there have already been incidences of abuse and non-compliance within the health sector, he said “those who do not comply with the vaccination rules must be punished.”
Accompanied by the Minister of Health, Marta Temido, and with the Secretary of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Duarte Cordeiro, at his side, the Prime Minister also tried to allay fears that people will be missed out and again asked everyone to remain calm and await their turn, stating “It is not worth having an excess of anxiety, nor is it worth rushing to the health care units to ask for the vaccine. Each one will be contacted to come forward and receive their vaccine when it is their turn.”
