The Ribeira Brava City Council plans to distribute more than 3,150 masks to all students who attend schools within the municipality as part of their strategy to combat Covid transmissions in local schools.
This action by the municipality aims to raise the awareness of the younger generation about the precautions necessary to combat the Covid-19 pandemic in the Region, especially in the municipality of Ribeira Brava.
Wearing masks is crucial to the prevention of the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and, and in order to to create a safer environment, the city council executive agreed that each student would receive two masks.
The municipality also stated that “a mask is for individual use, and for the sake of Public Health it is necessary to adopt other measures, such as frequent hand washing and disinfection, social detachment and respiratory etiquette” and asks that youngsters in the parish become “agents of Public Health and Education and ensure that their families comply with all Covid-19 health and safety rulings.”
