The continued search for the German tourist who fell overboard a boat on the north coast, in the São Jorge quay area, Santana last Thursday resumed this morning.
Although both the 24-year-old German tourist and his brother fell overboard on Thursday afternoon, the brother was quickly rescued by emergency services, however, the 24-year-old disappeared. So far, searches have proved unsuccessful, and rescue teams have been hampered by poor visibility and strong seas.
At the scene is a vessel from the Funchal Lifeboat Station, crewed by members from the Shipwreck Aid Institute (ISN), and the Portuguese Navy ship NRP Auriga, Maritime Police and the Santana Volunteer Firefighters, who are now using a drone to assist with the search.
