Apolo Restaurants Uncertain Future

The sad news issued today, is that Madeira’s oldest restaurant, the Apolo Restaurant which opened in early December 1945, is sliding towards insolvency.  With their wages unpaid, the seventeen members of staff face the bleak reality that they could lose their jobs.

According to JM, there was a proposal to acquire the historic space, but the building’s owners considered the offer “insufficient.”  They are currently seeking professional advice as they consider declaring the company insolvent.
