Defibrillator Stolen From Caniço

This week a defibrillator, was ripped out and stolen from its housing in front of the Church in Caniço.

The crime has been reported to the Public Security Police (PSP), while the theft has been universally deplored by the municipality of Santa Cruz, who believe that the thief(ieves) action(s) could potentially put lives in danger. The municipality issued a statement ‘the act constitutes as a double crime as it is not only an attack on a public property, but also reveals the irresponsibility and selfishness of the perpetrator(s), as the equipment could save a life.’

The case is now being investigated by the PSP. This is not the first act of wanton vandalism and theft in Caniço, as last Christmas someone stole ‘Father Christmas’s Chair.’ It was later returned.
