The Parque Ecológico do Funchal campsite will re-open on the 27th of July, and those wishing to use the facilities can now pre-book their permits, while at the same time agreeing to comply with all the new safety standards.
The vice-president of the municipality, Idalina Perestrelo, who oversees the Parque Ecológico do Funchal explained that “once the health authorities confirmed that the camp site could be re-opened, we prepared a set of rules so that everyone can safely enjoy their stay at the site.”
The campsite’s current capacity has been reduced to a maximum of 20 tents or 80 people. Tents must be five metres apart, and get together’s are prohibited, unless the participants are all from the same family; but this should never exceed more than ten people. Campers are also reminded to keep the campsite clean at all times and deposit their rubbish in the correct waste containers.
Camping permits in the Chão da Lagoa area can be made online or in person at the Parque Ecológico do Funchal reception centre between 9:30 am and 4:30 pm.
