Due to pandemic restraints Banco Alimentar da Madeira volunteers were unable to collect food at participating supermarkets around the island. In order to overcome this, the food bank asked all partner institutions to create a promotional video to highlight the food banks work in Madeira. All entries were then to be posted to the Banco Alimentar da Madeira Facebook page, and the video with the most likes would win the competition.
Today, the 23rd of July, the award wining video was announced, and the winner is the Santana Cidade Solidária Association, who will receive additional food aid donated by both Continente and Pingo Doce supermarkets.
The delivery ceremony will take place tomorrow, Friday, the 24th of July at 4 pm, at the institution’s headquarters and will be attended by the president of Banco Alimentar da Madeira, the groups management team and all those involved in the video.
The campaign resulted in a record number of 19 tonnes of food being donated as the food bank say by the commitment by their partner institutions and the immense generosity of the Madeiran people.
