Santander customers can now make payments using their Fitbits, through the devices Fitbit Pay payment app.
The bank states that “the new digital payment solutions that the bank is implementing enable customers to pay for their purchases with any mobile device worldwide, using watches (smartwatch), bracelets and other devices in a simple, fast and safe way.”
Payment can be made at any payment terminal using contactless technology, without the need for a bank card or mobile phone, all you need to do is link your bank card to your watch. Payment can then be made by passing your Fitbit close to the payment terminal.
Concluding, a Santander spokesperson confirmed “that this is yet another of the banks innovations aimed at simplifying payments by offering a wide variety of digital payment options.”
