Logo Competition Open

The Regional Secretary for the Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change (SRAAC) Susana Prada,  has launched a competition for the creation of a “Levadas da Madeira” logo in support of a UNESCO World Heritage competition.

In a press note, the Regional Secretary explained that “the contests  main objective is to create a competition which is open to everyone living here on the island.  Madeira’s levadas are a source of pride for all Madeirans, they dazzle those who visit us and reveal the unique character of the islanders relationship with nature.”

The logo should, according to Susana Prada, “pay homage to the herculean work that the construction of the Levadas entailed, as well as their multifunctionality as a means of transportation of water for both human and agriculture needs and in the generation of electricity.”

Creativity, quality and originality are just some of the criteria the jury will be taking into account when evaluating each entry.  The closing date for the competition is the 30th of September 2020, and it is open to anyone aged eighteen or over and a resident in Portugal.  Each entrant can enter up to two pieces of work.

The winning logo will be used on official documents as well as in promotional materials, web pages, social networks and other forms of media.

Proposals must be submitted to the Regional Secretariat for the Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change, at Rua Dr. Pestana Júnior, 6, 5th floor, 9064-506 Funchal, Madeira, Portugal.
