Traders across Madeira have slammed the new Zero VAT regime, stating that it will lead to negligible savings and not help those who need it.
The Competition Authority (AdC) issued recommendations on the performance of food traders, including price fixing, suggesting a periodic review of commercial action to prevent "risky behaviours" along the price chain.
The savings resulting from the application of Zero VAT on food products considered essential will not be significant, but "despite everything, it will help", says Ana Ferreira, responsible for DECO in Madeira.
