The bad weather is causing havoc on the north side of the island. Reports of landslides, localised flooding, road debris, requests for help and other complications have been recorded by the emergency services.

Machico is suffering significant storm damage, as barriers have collapsed due to the sheer weight of debris, mud and water, leaving some roads impassable.
