The Regional Civil Protection Service, IP-RAM is promoting an awareness campaign aimed at the general population, asking people not to take and share photos and videos of accidents, in order to protect the identity of the victim and the work of the rescue and emergency teams.

Quick off the mark, Mayor of Funchal candidate, Pedro Calado (Vice-President of the Regional Government), wrote on his social media pages, “I will never make political use of any type of tragedy. But I have to say that it is time to improve and take responsibility. What happened today only proves, once again, that we really cannot have any confidence in our current municipal executive.”
