While visiting the Santa Casa da Misericórdia in Machico, the President of the Regional Government, Miguel Albuquerque, thanked everyone for for their exemplary work, particularly during the pandemic, saying "that we are perhaps overcoming the crisis of our generation, with its devastating socio economic effects."

Care and Stay Aware
As the 1st of November is All Saints' Day, the municipality of Machico recommends that people take care and adhere to the current health and safety regulations. These include the mandatory use of masks, social distancing, using the hand sanitizers placed at the cemetery entrances and coughing and sneezing into paper tissues and disposing of them immediately.
Inspections on the Increase
Due to some establishments non-compliance of the new Covid-19 laws, the President of Madeira, Miguel Albuquerque has categorically stated that the Madeira security authorities will increase the number of inspections carried out on commercial premises, especially at night. In his statement, the President said "I think that, at this moment, we cannot relax. We are in the middle of a pandemic crisis, we have a situation in which we cannot allow potential contamination risks to occur. We have to do everything possible to avoid any future problems."
Gathering Can Resume – But With New Rules
The Director-General of Health (DGS) defended today that people can meet up, but in a different way from the past, because everyone will have to comply with the new social distancing rules introduced to minimise the spread of Covid-19.
