The Regional Secretary for Tourism, Eduardo Jesus, believes that this summers tourism conditions are on track, especially as most airlines flying to Madeira are reporting aircraft occupancy rates of 90% and above. Of course, this is dependent on the evolution of the pandemic.

When asked by journalists about the possibility of easing the wearing of facemasks, the President of Madeira, Miguel Albuquerque, remarked that mask wearing is mandatory, and will remain so.
As of the 21st of June, the PCR test is being replaced by a rapid antigen test (TRAg) which must be carried out up to 48 hours before embarking on an inter-island trip, either by sea or air. The test is mandatory for both outbound and return journeys, as per the new rules issued on the 18th of June 2021, by the Regional Secretary for Health and Civil Protection.
TUI UK has announced that they will start operating flights to Madeira from three of its UK bases - London Gatwick, Manchester and Birmingham. There will also be a direct flight from Gatwick to Porto Santo on Mondays.
