The former Deputy Mayor of Funchal, Idalina Perestrelo, accused of negligent homicide in the 2017 Monte Tree Tragedy said today, that there were never any warnings regarding that tree, and that not even "in someone's worst nightmares" could anyone predict the tragedy.

Both were accused by the Public Ministry of 13 crimes of negligent homicide and 49 offences of involuntary or negligent physical integrity.
The instructive debate on the Monte tree disaster, that killed 13 people and injured 49, originally scheduled for Monday the 14th of September has been postponed until October.
The District Court of Madeira has issued a statement confirming that the public phase of the investigation into the Monte tree tragedy which killed 13 people and injured 49 in 2017, will begin on Monday the 14th of September.
