The Regional Government, through the Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation (IFCN), has so far this year cleared 215 km of forest paths/firebreaks as part of the Forest Defence Plan Against Fires which includes the construction of firebreaks and access paths.

More than 40 national and international researchers, managers, and technicians, are part of a scientific expedition to the Selvagens Islands, which began yesterday, the 23rd of April, and lasts until the 2nd of May.
The public presentation of the Selvagens 50 Expedition will take place on Friday, the 21st of April in the Noble Hall of the Regional Government of Madeira, Funchal.
The Madeira Botany Group (Faculty of Life Sciences of the University of Madeira), in collaboration with the National Tropical Botanical Garden Hawaii (USA), in a project funded by the Mohamed Bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund, carried out activities this week to locate rare species of flora of the Madeira archipelago.
