Strengthening the fire detection system and studying the replacement of the current helicopter with another with a higher capacity or even the acquisition of a second aerial means are the possibilities put on the table by the President of the Regional Government.

During a signing ceremony with some of the region's firefighters, Pedro Ramos confirmed that Madeira needs to be protected and that firefighting drones are a must.
In a press statement, the Portuguese Armed Forces General Staff (EMGFA), has confirmed that they have deployed two teams of drone operators from the Operational Command of Madeira, comprising of five soldiers in total, and whose drones are fitted with infrared cameras, as well as two foot soldiers from the Madeira Military Base to help with the search of the missing French Tourist.
