During the early hours of Saturday morning, the Public Security Police (PSP) and an inspection team from the Funchal City Council (CMF) carried out a joint operation in the Old Town and Rua das Fontes, which limited the functionality of bars that were offering an extensive nightlife programme without the relevant license.

Although it comes as no surprise, the curfew has been extended until the 12th of April, despite the sudden drop in the number of new infections.
The Regional Government may decide to prohibit people from consuming alcoholic beverages while standing at the bar, as a way of controlling and disciplining both patrons and bar owners during the pandemic. This will be one of the new rules to be discussed tomorrow during the Government Council Meeting.
