On Sunday the 16th of August, the Sunday Madeira Classic Car Group, in conjunction with the Machico Parish Council, will hold its 4th, ‘Drive It Day / Classics of the April Revolution 2020,’ between 10:00 – 17:00 at the Forum Square and Alameda dos Plátanos in Machico. The exhibition will comprise of around 130 classic and pre-classic vehicles.
According to the organisation, this year, it was due to take place on the 19th of April, but had to be postponed due to the pandemic. As a precautionary note the organization strongly recommends, both to participants and visitors, that they comply with the health rules issued by the various authorities, especially with regard to mask wearing and avoiding large groups of people near or around the vehicles. Finally, they ask that everyone uses their common sense, so that everyone can have an enjoyable experience.
Drive It Day is celebrated throughout Europe and is reminiscent of a speed and endurance test that took place in London on the 23rd of April, 1900.
