The Praia Formosa Promenade reopened fully on Wednesday, the 23rd of September, following temporary repairs to the pavement on the section between Praia Formosa and Socorridos.
The route had been closed as a precaution since the 16th of August, after signs of damage prompted an assessment of its safety. The assessment led to temporary pavement repairs to address the risks and allow pedestrians to use the route again.
“The safety of users was our priority from the outset,” said Élia Ribeiro, president of the board of the Development Companies. She said the promenade would continue to be monitored following its reopening.
The promenade recorded 371,782 pedestrian passages between the start of the year and its closure, an average of approximately 49,500 a month. Its busiest day was the 15th of March, when 3,598 passages were recorded.
