The poster for the 2026 edition of the Flower Festival was presented today, which will feature an extended programme, providing both residents and visitors with a diverse set of initiatives.
This year’s edition, which lasts for more than a month, will have as its main theme the celebration of the 50th anniversary of autonomy, integrating several novelties into its programming.
Among the main highlights is the holding of two allegorical parades, which should involve about 1,700 participants (14 groups, seven in each parade), which will travel along Avenida do Mar on the 3rd and 17th of May.
The festivities start on Thursday, the 30th of April, with the opening of the ‘Flower Market’ in the Plaça Central, a space that will remain in operation throughout the event. The market will have 25 structures, intended for the sale of flowers, regional products, and gastronomic delights.
Also within the scope of the programme, 18 floral carpets will be on display, distributed by the Plaça Central, Avenida Arriaga, and Largo do Corpo Santo, accessible to the public throughout the period of the festival.
In terms of entertainment, the 32 days of celebrations include initiatives for different audiences, with a total of 85 musical and cultural performances, several exhibitions, and the 6th edition of the Palheiro Gardens Golf Classic.
