Sancho Gomes, the Regional Director for Communities and External Cooperation, received this afternoon the daughters of Juan Rodriguez, and explained that the Regional Government is working for the release of the two political prisoners with links to Madeira, Juan Rodriguez and Fernando Venâncio.
Speaking to the press, the regional director for Communities and External Cooperation stressed that the President of the Regional Government, in this context, will send a letter to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, requesting diplomatic intervention, by all possible means, to sensitise the Venezuelan Government to the release of political prisoners.
According to Sancho Gomes, a letter with the same theme will also be sent to the United States Ambassador in Lisbon, asking that he, with his diplomatic influence, contribute to the release of political prisoners, namely those of Madeiran origin.
Juan Rodriguez has been imprisoned since October 2019 at Rodeo I. Fernando Venancio was arrested in 2024 and is imprisoned in Turmero, Aragua State.
