The Madeira Youth Symphony Orchestra will perform for the first time in public tomorrow (21st of December) at 18:00, in the Noble Hall of the Legislative Assembly of Madeira. The inaugural concert will be conducted by Madeiran conductor Patrícia Khachkalyan Gomes and is part of the “Closer Parliament” initiative.
This project unites young Madeiran musicians, whether they’re studying in higher education or already working professionally, both within and beyond the Region. It was launched by Patrícia Gomes and is supported by the Atlantic Notes and Symphonies Association, which manages the Classical Orchestra of Madeira, along with backing from BPI Bank and the “La Caixa” Foundation.
The orchestra comprises 23 musicians and includes solists Rafael Kyrychenko (piano) and trumpeter Pedro Dantas. The programme includes works by Dmitri Shostakovich, Edward Elgar, and the Portuguese composer Joly Braga Santos.
Tickets cost 15 euros, with free admission for young people up to 18 years old and students of the Conservatory – School of Arts of Madeira, subject to availability.
