The remaining five individuals involved in the ‘Renascer’ operation were remanded in custody after their first court hearing this afternoon. They will remain at the Cancela Prison until their trial.
Yesterday afternoon, the suspects arrived at Funchal Marina aboard a Navy boat under heavy guard. Security was managed by the Judiciary Police, the Portuguese Air Force, and the National Maritime Authority.
These five traffickers complete the group of 10 crew members of the vessels that were intercepted on the 17th and 20th of November, which resulted in the seizure of 7,000 kg of cocaine.Â
The first five suspects have already been presented in court and are already in prison awaiting trial. Â
