The young German woman, who was reported missing since last Sunday, has been found travelling abroad.
Friends and co-workers grew concerned when she was absent from work and failed to answer any calls, which prompted the initial alarm.
The Public Security Police (PSP) began the initial steps and, in the absence of concrete evidence, referred the case to the Judiciary Police (PJ), to investigate the situation.
In less than 24 hours, the Funchal Criminal Investigation Department, led by José Matos, found that the woman had voluntarily left Madeira and was travelling outside Portugal. She had also taken her personal belongings with her.
The authorities thus concluded that it was not a disappearance, but a trip made without the knowledge of third parties.
