A Swiss tourist drowned yesterday afternoon in the sea off Praia do Areeiro, Praia Formosa.
According to people, the body was seen floating out at sea.
Several people tried to revive him on land, including firefighters. But nothing could be done, and he was declared dead by officials.
The Maritime Police took care of the occurrence.
This is the 4th drowning in the Region since the summer.Â
The first, a man in his 50s, was found inanimate in the water after suffering a heart attack while swimming in the sea at Praia Formosa. He died on the way to the hospital.
The second case occurred in Ponta do Passo, in Porto Santo. Or foreigner was on vacation on the island with a group of friends and was swept away by the current.
An Irish tourist died last Saturday at Maiata Beach, in Porto da Cruz, while trying to save his daughter.
