Online Folklore Course

AFERAM, the Madeira Folklore and Ethnography Association, is promoting an e-learning course (distance learning) on Folklore, aimed at elements of folklore groups, from the region and the diaspora.

The objective “is to create an environment for reflection, sharing and debate on the practices and approaches of the folklore movement, in the context of traditional and popular culture and its safeguarding, with the guidance of expert trainers and experienced professionals,” says the association.

The curriculum design will cover several themes related to folklore and ethnography, aiming to gather and discuss essential issues for the management and practice of folklore groups that represent the archipelago of Madeira.

The course is part of the ‘Madeira Folk’ project, which will have a website where content on Traditional and Popular Culture, namely Folklore, will be gathered and shared.

This training will start in June and end in November, taking place fortnightly, on Saturdays, starting at 21:00. Each module will last approximately 90 minutes.

Registration will take place from the 25th of May until the 8th of June 2025 via  www.madeirafolk.com or www.folcloredamadeira.com.
