Political party, ADN – Alternative national Democracy Party, today questioned the regional authorities about what has been done to combat illegal immigration in the Region. Now that SEF – Foreigners and Borders Service no longer exists, the party understands that little is known for sure about how the entry of immigrants is controlled, as well as in what conditions they are living.
In a press release, the ADN stressed “that it wants a controlled immigration, in which only those who do not commit crimes and know how to respect our culture, religion, traditions, values and present a clean criminal record from their country of origin should be allowed to remain in the Region.
The ADN thus reinforces its position against “illegal immigration, which often contributes to the aggravation of social problems and the exploitation of people in inhumane conditions.”
“We defend strict and fair migration policies, which protect regional sovereignty, which promote the integration only of those who enter the Autonomous Region of Madeira legally and respecting our laws. We do not uphold extremist actions or speeches since our approach is based on respect for human rights, in the search for balanced solutions, and using dialogue as a tool to solve the challenges of immigration and public security.”
However, the party drew attention to the existence in mainland Portugal of a movement called the ‘Bangladesh Socialist Party Group’ which encompasses citizens from Asia, Nepal, Pakistan, Malaysia, and South Korea.
“It is necessary and urgent to use our regional autonomic factor in order not to allow such facilities to those who enter the Autonomous Region of Madeira as immigrants and that in the future may become a problem for our society.”
