Pink Boxes Delivered To Schools

As part of the ‘Pink Boxes’ initiative, resulting from a partnership between the Womaniza-Te association and CMF, councilor Helena Leal, who oversees Education and Citizenship, this week visited several schools where ‘Pink Boxes’ had been delivered.

Specifically in the schools of Basic School of the 2nd and 3rd Bartolomeu Perestrelo, Basic School of the 2nd and 3rd of Louros, Basic School of Santo António, Professional Qualification Institute and Basic School of the 2nd and 3rd Dr. Eduardo Brazão de Castro.

In the first phase of the project, boxes were provided to five Basic and Secondary Schools in the Municipality of Funchal, namely: the Basic School of the 2nd and 3rd Cycles Dr. Horácio Bento de Gouveia, Professional School Dr. Francisco Fernandes, Francisco Franco Secondary School, Dr. Ângelo Augusto da Silva Secondary School, Gonçalves Zarco Basic and Secondary School.

The main objective of this project is to facilitate access to intimate hygiene products for adolescent girls, discreetly and privately, to help girls whose families are unable to purchase these products due to several factors including, shame at addressing the issue either within their family, friends or school environment.

Pink boxes include several packs of hygiene products, with the school delivery, monitoring, and replacement being the responsibility of the Association. Some of these products are supplied support from various regional and national companies and institutions.

This is a sustainable project, where schools play a role in raising awareness in young adolescents, providing them with the necessary items while ensuring that replacement products are always available.

It should be noted that this is a partnership under the Municipal Programme to Support Associativism and Activities of Municipal Interest of the Funchal City Council.
