The Judiciary Police, through the Criminal Investigation Department of Madeira, with the collaboration of the Criminal Information Unit, identified and detained, in Funchal, a 61-year-old foreign citizen, under an International arrest warrant, issued by the Venezuelan authorities. The man is wanted on suspicion of fraud.
According to the national directorate of the PJ, in a statement, the investigation initiated by the Venezuelan police, on the 1st of October 2023, found that the suspect acted as a shareholder of a hotel company, being responsible for the dissemination and advertising of the hotel.
“Taking advantage of his position, he improperly received about 400 thousand dollars and embezzled funds.
The detainee will be presented to the competent judicial authorities for extradition and possibly remain in preventive custody.
