The Regional Command of PSP Madeira informs that on the 3rd of January, a foreign citizen, aged 27, was arrested for overstaying their designated time period in national territory.
This arrest followed a special crime prevention operation carried out in November last year, in the Funchal area. At the time, the citizen in question was already in an irregular situation, having been notified by the police to voluntarily leave the national territory under the terms of the law.
The Agency for Integration, Migration, and Asylum (AIMA) was informed of this action, and the citizen was instructed to return to their country of origin on the 21st of November 2024.
The deportation instruction was ignored by the citizen in question, and he was intercepted in a follow-up police operation, which is why he was arrested.
The presentation of the detainee to the 1st judicial interrogation took place on the 4th and the man is ordered to report periodically to a police station while the AIMA deportation process is complete.
