SANAS Madeira was alerted yesterday morning to help an amateur fishing vessel anchored in Santa Cruz.
“With the swell and strong wind, the Santa Cruz Lifeguard Station was asked to help rescue the beleaguered vessel and it was hoped that they would be able to tow the fishing boat to safety. However, due to worsening weather conditions, when SANAS arrived, there was nothing they could do as the boat had sunk.
The Maritime Police were in attendance and took care of the occurrence.
