The Vamos Lá Madeira Association was contacted yesterday, around 12:00 pm, to rescue three cats found in a rubbish bin on Estrada dos Marmeleiros, in Monte. The animals had been shut inside a cardboard box sealed with duct tape.
The complaint that reached local newspaper, JM, via Instagram, reports that it was a cat with her two kittens, all of whom were in a terrible condition. All of them were hungry and dehydrated, had respiratory problems, were flearidden, and suffered from fungal infections.
The association does not know how long they had been in the rubbish bin before they were found.
The charity stated that this case had to be reported so that people who are suffering financially can ask for help from an institution or their local council.
