The President of the Food Bank Against Hunger of Madeira (Banco Alimentar) has asked for more people to help join their Food Collection Campaign, which started on the 29th of November and runs until the 8th of December.
This is the region’s 24th campaign and in global terms, there are more than 800 volunteers involved, 600 of which will be channelled to the stores and the rest to the warehouse.
Fátima Aveiro stressed to local newspaper, JM, that they need more warehouse volunteers and appealed to the general public to join this worthwhile cause.
“Let’s hope that everyone has a sense of community this Christmas and that we can help those, who have little, have a happier Christmas. Of course, we need to provide year-round help but Christmas is a time when families feel more disadvantaged.”
