Despite the warnings and signs prohibiting access to the Vereda do Areeiro walking route, which is closed due to the fire, several tourists oblivious to the danger to themselves and any fire brigade personnel who might have to rescue them ignored the barrier blocking access to the trail.
Please note that just because you are a tourist does not exempt you from complying with the rules, especially in fire/flood/storm or any other natural disaster. Warnings are there to keep you and everyone safe.
