The PSD has won in 45 of the 54 parishes, the JPP dominated all five parishes in the municipality of Santa Cruz and the PS won only three, namely Caniçal, Machico, and Porto Moniz. With the CDS only triumphing in Paul do Mar.
The question now is who will be asked to form a coalition, especially as all parties have stated that they will not share governance with Chega. Although, Eduardo Jesus stated that once all the votes are counted, the results are in, then will be the time to consider the second stage which will include discussions with other parties to form a coalition.
This comes after an opinion poll posted by Diario de Noticias da Madeira last week stated that the only way the PSD could have a majority government was with Chega.
We live in interesting times!
