SANAS crew members provided emergency aid to a Norwegian-flagged sailboat, which was sailing 5.8 miles off the south coast of Funchal this week.
The Santa Cruz Lifesaving Station was asked to supply fuel to the stricken boat and crew who, having been battled with adverse weather conditions on the way to Madeira, were on the verge of running out of fuel.
After ascertaining that the two crew members of the vessel were in good health, SANAS supplied the necessary fuel and then returned to base.
