A fantastic initiative, ‘Give a used book and change a Christmas forever,’ organised by FNAC and ENTRAJUDA, runs until the 20th of December.
The social solidarity action, which challenges the Portuguese to donate used books, began on the 15th of November, with the aim of ‘feeding’ the libraries of 5 thousand institutions.
It should be noted that the books collected in FNAC stores will be delivered to ENTRAJUDA, which within the scope of the Bank of Donated Goods, will then carry out a “careful sorting,” to ensure that all the books are readable and in good condition.
“Books in good condition will be sent to charities, gaining new readers, and books in more precarious conditions will be recycled under the Food Bank’s ‘Paper for Food’ campaign.
“We are very excited about this campaign as it strengthens social solidarity institutions and promotes reading and education. We firmly believe that the power of books can transform lives and that’s why we encourage everyone to participate by donating a used book and helping us make a difference in someone’s life this Christmas,” explains Inês Condeço, marketing and communication director at FNAC Portugal.
For her part, Marta Vinhas, director of ENTRAJUDA, welcomes the initiative, stating:
“This is a winning initiative from the outset, as it mobilises the entire civil society for several causes simultaneously: culture, social solidarity, and environmental protection.”
