Large Domestic Appliance Collection

The Parish Council of Câmara de Lobos has made another collection of electrical and electronic equipment for recycling, within the scope of the ‘Junta na Freguesia’ project, which is part of the European Recycling Platform – Portugal.

The fifth collection comprised of 30 refrigerators, 8 stoves, 6 washing machines, and 2 ovens, in addition to other collections. So far, more than 5 tonnes of waste has already been collected, without counting this week’s total, which will be around 2 tonnes.

The delivery of this equipment was made at the warehouse of Electromendes, a company with which the Parish Council signed a protocol that aims to speed up and facilitate the collection and deposit of this type of equipment in the Parish of Câmara de Lobos.

Celso Bettencourt, President of the Parish Council of Câmara de Lobos, took the opportunity to “appeal once again to people’s environmental awareness, telling parishioners they do not need to abandon this type of waste on the public road, as they can and should, whenever they need to, contact the Parish Council to schedule the collection of this type of equipment so that it can then be sent for recycling.”
