The Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Environment, Rafaela Fernandes, was present at a Sonae group event at the Agricultural School, where she categorically stated that it is necessary to reduce the amount of phytopharmaceuticals used in agriculture.
She went on to say, that “we have to learn to live with food security and that we cannot promote production that jeopardises food security.
While attending the closing of the annual meeting of the Continente Producers’ Club, Rafaela Fernandes said that the region has a harvest plan for analysis. Although admitting to the use of phytopharmaceuticals in agriculture, she reassured all those present that they were within controlled health and safety levels.
Concluding, she said that the event was a boon to farmers as it allowed for open discussion and dissimulation of information.
