The President of Portugal, António Costa, is currently in Madeira and will, from tomorrow, participate in the PS parliamentary days – ‘Alongside the Portuguese: fair and solid growth.’
Relaxing before the week ahead, the Prime Minister was seen dining in the Old Town at the Lá ao Fundo restaurant.
However, the President of the Regional Government, Miguel Albuquerque, has confirmed that he will not be meeting his mainland counterpart. Stating:
“No, I’m not going to meet with him. António Costa is here on a party mission, which is the parliamentary days of the PS.”
He then added:
“I think it is important that the deputies of the Socialist Party at the national level come to Madeira to know the reality and the problems we face as an outermost region. I have no problem with the visit and the Prime Minister is always welcome here, in Madeira.”
